Mt.Everest Base Camp

Mt. Everest, also known as Mount Qomolangma, means Mother Goddess of the Universe in Tibetan. It is the highest peak in the world. Standing at 8844.43 meters (29017 feet), snow capped throughout the year, she lies at the border between China and Nepal.
Mt. Everest, called Mount Qumulangma in Tibetan Language, is the highest peak of the Earth and probably the most coveted mountain in adventurous travelers¡¯ eyes.  Journey to Mt. Tour to Mt. Everest region from Tibet side, you can choose either stop at Rongbuk Monastery or at Mt. Everest Base Camp, if not for mountaineers.

Rongbuk Monastery is a good place for overlooking Mt. Everest.  It¡¯s only 25 kilometers straightaway from the Everest Peak.  Rongbuk Monastery is the highest monastery on the earth, with an altitude of 5,100 meters (16728 feet).  The monastery was built in 1899, as a Nyingmapa monastery since it was said that once Padmasambhava, founder of Nyingmapa, preceded his religious cultivation here. It is one of the very few monasteries that houses Lamas and nuns in the same monastery.

Further into the mountains, about 8.8 kilometers from the Rongbuk Monastery is Mt. Everest Base Camp.  With the attitude 5180 meters (17000 ft), it is often regard as the last stop for common tourists and a start point for mountaineers trying to conquer the world¡®s highest peak.  You have to bring your own camping and cooking stuffs if you want to stay there.  Enjoy a one moment beautiful sunset view here makes all your adventure and expense on the way desirable. The noted Serac Groups-Serac World is also 3 hours car drive away from here.

Weather in the world¡®s highest mountain range is rather unpredictable.  Be sure to get yourself physically and psychologically well prepared.  One of the obstacles you have to face is the Acute Mountain Sickness which happens on this high-altitude adventure.  Read more about Mountain Sickness and ways to avoid it.
