Chinaˇ®s first and most famous shopping street stretches 3.4-miles along Nanjing Road, starting at the Bund in the east and ends in the west at the junction of Jingˇ®an Temple and Yanˇ®an West Street. Today Nanjing Road is a must-see destination attracting thousands of tourists and shoppers from all over the world. For shopping convenience, its eastern end has a pedestrian section. Large traditional department stores are now joined by modern shopping malls, specialty stores, theaters, and international hotels all along this section. Today over 600 businesses on Nanjing road offer countless famous brands, superior quality, and new products. Many world-famous food vendors line both sides of the street. Upscale stores include Tiffany, Mont Blanc, and Dunhill. Additionally, about a hundred traditional stores and specialty shops still provide silk, jade, embroidery and wool goods. There are always promotions and performances taking place along the street, so a stroll on Nanjing Road is never dull. A sightseeing tram provides a comfortable way to tour the night-transformed pedestrian street where flashing neon signs illuminate the magnificent buildings and decorate the night skyline of this bustling city.
