The Bund, also called Zhongshan East Road, is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai. Walking along the Bund, which is the west shore of the Huangpu River, you can see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Jin Mao Tower across the river in Pudong. It is one of the top attractions in Shanghai. The Bund¡¯s beauty is definitely worth experiencing. The most famous and attractive sight are the 52 various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and Renaissance, just west of the Bund. The Bund was the center of Shanghai¡®s city activity hundreds of years ago and thus, this is where many consulates, banks, businesses and newspaper offices are based. That is why today, one can see the unique western-style architecture in the buildings along the bund. The east bank, also called Bingjiang Boulevard, of the Huangpu River in Pudong offers a great view of these buildings and is a great place for a romantic stroll in the evening.
