| Lhasa-Kathmandu overland 8 days small group tour |

This Shangrila is a plateau land with Lhasa as its capital. Lhasa placed at an elevation of 3,597 Mts. is the second highest capital in the world after La Paz, Bolivia (3,660 Mts.). One of the most magnificent Royal Palaces anywhere in the world - the Potala Palace former home of the Dalai Lamas, is built on top of a rock in 1645 and has over 1000 rooms, 10,000 shrines and 2,00,000 religious statues...
Day 1:Chengdu - Lhasa
Depart from Chengdu, meet at a designated location (06:00AM), and transfer to Chengdu Shuangliu airport. Arrive at Lhasa Gonggar airport which is at an elevation of 3000 meters, drive to Lhasa urban, en route visit Brahmaputra valley, Buddha Sculpture made in 11th century and Tibetan village etc. during the drive to Lhasa, then check in the Hotel, free and have a rest in the afternoon.Dinner by yourself. (No tour guide service whole day except the Tibetan guide will pick you up at Lhasa airport, avoid extreme physical activities.)
Day 2:Potala & Jokhang Monastery
Full day guided sightseeing, visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery which famed as the holy place for Tibet Mandala, and souvenir shopping in Barkhor Street and photographing along Lhasa river side, later transfer to hotel.
Day3:Drepung Monestery &Sera Monastery
Full day guided sightseeing,visit Drepung Monestery which is of great historical importance not only in that it produced some of Tibet"s most renowned spiritual leaders, but also in that it always enjoyed significant political influence and Sera Monastery which is dedicated to the Gelugpa or Yellow Hat Sect, a branch of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Tsong Khapa overnight in Lhasa
Day4: Lhasa-Yangparchen-Namtso Lake-Lhasa
Drive from Lhasa to Yangparchen, it is about 5 hours driving totally.Visit Yangparchen geothermal power plant, enjoy a hot spring(30-50RMB/person).then drive to Namtso lake which is one of three holy lakes in Lhasa. After that, drive back to Lhasa and overnight in Lhasa.
Day 5:Lhasa - Yamdrok Yumtso Lake-Shigatse (approximately 380km, with 200km bad road )
Morning, drive to Shigatse along the south approach, en route visit Mt. Gangbala, Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, and Shigatse plain, then drive to Shigatse urba visit the settlement of Panchen Lama - Tashilhunpo Monastery or take a photo outside of the monastery. overnight in Shigatse.
Day 6:Shigatse - Lhatse - Dhingri (Xiegeer Town)- Mt. Everest Nature Reserve (Rhongbuk monastery)
After breakfast, drive to Xiegeer Town by TOYOTA 4WD vehicle by the way of Lhatse, cross the Gyamtso La pass of 5200m, the continue driving to Mt. Everest Nature Reserve from Xiegeer Town, visit the Rongbuk Monastery located at the north face of Mt. Everest, and at an elevation of 5100m. it is the highest monastery in the world, only 20kms to the summit. See the spectacular view of Mt. Everest, visit the Base Camp, overnight in Rongbuk Monastery hostel. (multi-people room, no in-room water closet, sleeping bag is recommended)
Note: The meal, accommodation and road are not good, only 4WD vehicle or trekking can do.
Day 7: Rongbuk Monastery - Dhingri -Zhanmu
Get up early and see the sunrise at Mt. Everest,and have spectacular view of the Himalaya before we leave the Tibetan Plateau, then via Dhingri descending to Zhangmu ¨C on the China-Nepal border , overnight in Zhangmu.
Day 8:Zhangmu-Kathmandu
After breakfast,the guide will help you arrange the transportation to Kathmandu.and see off at friendship bridge.after you arrive in Kathmandu,you could begin another fantastic trip in Nepal by yourself,or fly back to your home,end the tour.

3. Accommodation: 3 star hotel or simimilar class, but , accommodation is very pool at Rhongbuk monastery usually several persons share a room without bathroom en suite.

Note:
1.Health consultation from your doctor before you come to highland(Over than 3000M) is quite necessary, make sure that you are in very good physical condition travelling on the high plateau.
2.As we travel in Tibet area where the economy is comparatively backward and the local tibetan's life style are very different from other places, especially the food diversity is rather limited, we suggest you order food by yourself or take some solid food.Most of local restaurant only can offer the simple Sichuan or Tibetan food....... |
