Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is hemmed in to the north by the Altay Mountains, to the west by the Pamirs and to the south by the Karakoram Mountains, Altun Mountains and Kunlun Mountains. The snow-capped Tianshan Mountains running through the region divide Xinjiang into northern and southern parts with very different climate and landscape. Southern Xinjiang, hot and arid includes the Tarim Basin and the Taklimakan Desert, largest in China while northern Xinjiang contains the Junggar Basin, where the Karamay Oilfields and the fertile Ili River valley are situated.
Day01 Arrive in Urumqi
The capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, also calledĦ°fine pasture-landĦħin Mongolian. Hotel World Plaza or Miramar Hotel.
Day02 Urumqi-Ħ° Multi-colored Bay Ħħ
Drive toĦ° Multi-colored Bay Ħħ-a typical Yard-an landform, some 275km away from Urumqi . In the afternoon, visit the ruins of the Beiting Military Viceroy's office and ruins of Xidasi Temple . Jimsar Guesthouse.
Day03 Ħ° Multi-colored Bay Ħħ- Fuyun County
Morning departure for a petrified forest, located in Laoying Valley and then further to Fuyun via Karamaly Conservation for Hoofed Animal in the gobi desert. Arrive at Fuyun County at dinner time. Overnight at local guesthouse.
Day04 Fuyun County- Altay.
Drive 120km to Altay. In the afternoon, visit Birch Tree Park , museum and ancient rock carvings and paintings depicting nomadic daily life thousand years ago. Local guesthouse.
Day05 Altay-Kanas lake
Drive to the Kanas Lake , the most beautiful mountain lake you have never seen. It is the latest lake open to all tourists in China . Overnight at Russian style wooden house.
Day 06 Kanas lake sightseeing
A boat trip is highly recommended, also a visit to local ethnic family.
Day07 Kanas lake - Burjin County
Drive to Burjin County , on the way to Burjing, we can have several stops at Kazak yurts and their grassland. Overnight at Burjin Guesthouse.
Day08 Burjin County-Karamay City
Drive to karamay City . One way we will see the Ħ° Monster City Ħħ-a Yardan, landform shaped by wind erosion and looks like ruined castles or various kinds of animals. Karamay meansĦ°black oilĦħin Uygur language and now it is a petroleum city. Overnight at Karamay Hotel.
Day09 Back to Urumqi
Early morning drive 275km to Kangjia Shimenzi which is famous for its rock carvings that can be rated as the treasure of the original art of Xinjiang. The carving section on the rock is 13m in length and 9m in width. Within the carving, about 200 nude figures of both sexes were primitively and crudely carved. All of them have the same subject, expressing sexual intercourse and reproduction of human being. About dinner time back to Urumqi . hotel world Plaza or Miramar Hotel.
Day10 Heavenly Lake sightseeing
Excursion to the Heavenly Lake -a project of Man and Biology by UN. Before leave Urumqi next day, visit local bazaar at Erdaoqiao.
Day11 End the trip
Transter to the airport. Leaving Urumqi for your next destination.
