The Shoton Festival: is known as the Yogurt Banquet Festival since locals have the custom to eat Tibetan yogurt during the gala.during the festival, religious follows will display a large picture of the Buddha under the sun, traditional Tibetan opera will be performed at the Norbulingka and various materials fairs will be held.
Nagqu Horse Race Festival: is the most important festival in northern Tibet. It falls in the early August in the golden season on the grassland. Thousands of herdsmen ride their finest horses to Nagqu town. There will be thrilling horse race, archery and horsemanship contest. Songs and dance troupes from all part of Tibet will attend the event as well.<
28th Aug:Chengdu-Lhasa
Fly to Lhasa Gongar Airport, the guide will meet you and drive to Lhasa city (68km).transfer to hotel.
29th Aug :Lhasa city sightseeing
you will visit the Potala Palace, the Jokhang temple, and walk around Barkor Street.
30th Aug Shoton Festival
Today is the most important and attractive for visitors. Shoton Festival is the most important festivals in Tibet. Originally, it is only a religious festival, now it is the common public festival as well. This festival is beginning at Drepung Monastery with the tanning Tangka, then shift to Norbulinka for Tibetan opera. Early in the morning, arrive at Drepung Monastery to watch the Tangka Show. You will get to know how pious the pilgrims. In the afternoon, you may go to visit the Norbulinka.
31th Aug:Lhasa-Damshung-Nakchu
In the morning drive to Nakchu. En route you will have enough time to take photos, enjoy lunch box on the vast typical green-carpet-like Tibetan Grassland. in the afternoon, arrive in Nakchu, transfer to hotel to have a good rest.
1st Sep Horse Racing Festival Damshung
In the morning watch Horse Race activities, get to known the nomads life. Around 4:00PM drive back to Damshung, overnight in Damshung
2nd Sep Damshung-Namtso Lake-Yangpanchen-Lhasa
Drive to Namtso Lake; enjoy the highest salt lake in the world. It is the one of the holiest lakes among 3 holiest lakes in Tibet. You may have some time for ride the yaks (cost excluded) and taking pictures. Around 2:00pm drive back to Lhasa. En route, visit the Yangpachen which is famous for geothermal hot spring. You may have the chance to enjoy the hot spring (excluded cost).6:30pm around you will arrive Lhasa.
3rd Sep Lhasa-Yumdro Yumtso-Shigatse
In the morning drive to Shigatse, en route, visit the Yumdro Yumtso Lake. Around 3:00pm arrive in Shigatse and visit Tashilhunpo transfer to hotel.
4th Sep Shigatse-Lhasa
In the morning drive back to Lhasa. You may have free time in the afternoon.
5th Sep Lhasa-Chengdu
Fly back to Chengdu. End tour.
