Lushan National Park
Lushan National Park, in the north part of Jiangxi Province, China, the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, near the Poyang Lake, the largest fresh water lake in China, is adjacent to the Jiujiang city, one of the famous cities with historical and cultural interest. With an area of 302 square kilometres and surrounding protection zone of 500 square kilometres, Lushan National Park shows the trace of human activities dating back to 6,000 years ago, and therefore gave birth to the unique Lushan civilization with rich connotations. When considering the geological formation of Mount Lushan, it belongs to the Yangtze plate in south China, and is a unique "fault -block mountain of horst formation". The national park possesses the glacier geological sites of the Quaternary Period, rich biological resources, intact ecosystem, and over 2,200 kinds of alpine plants, including 40 endangered species, and the forest cover rate of the park stands at 80%. Acclaimed as "the most picturesque and grotesque mountain under the sun", the national park boasts 12 landscape areas, 474 scenic spots, featuring 8 categories of sights of interest, namely, waterfalls and springs, mountain rocks, weather phenomena, plants, geological formations, rivers and lakes, human cultural landmarks, and villa constructions.
