Covering 200 square km, Jingyue Pool was approved as a State-level Scenic Spot by the State Council in 1988, and listed as a State forest park in 1989. In 1993 and 1995, it was appointed as a tourist resort and tourist economic development zone by the Jilin Provincial government. The area is home to a 80-square-km artificial forest composed of more than 30 species, creating a delightful forest scene and a fine ecological system that forms a wider-ranging botanical specimen bank. Jingyue Pool boasts enjoyable cultural relics in its northern part, such as Liutiaobian site of the Qing Dynasty and the intact ancient tomb at Shibei Hill. At Luming Village, there are 48 European houses in different shapes. In Luyuan (or deer garden), there are trained deer to amuse visitors. It is a good place forsightseeing in spring, escaping the blazing heat of summer, appreciating the red tints of autumn and for winter sports. The area also attracts a great number of tourists to the 5-km-long ski training ground at the foot of Dajia Mountain, the forest-bathing beach north of Shiyang Shihu Mountain, the 4.3-square-km pool, and the country`s largest ski slope. It is the city`s guest parlor, and an ideal place to spend a holiday.
